Ahhhh! The dreaded hurricane! It's coming strait for us!*

(*Being a hurrican it could change it's path at any moment so don't quote me on that.)

Seriously though, it's just a hurricane. Yes, it has winds that are now around 100 MPH and if I was living on the beach I'd be running away (or boarding up the house with really thick boards and duct tape at the same time that way the hurriance AND the terrorists can't get me!).

I really think part of this is the media. The media in this country is what makes us well, us (no pun intended). But for every ying there is a yang, for every good there is a bad. Without it where would we be? WHO would we be? We MIGHT be less scared, have less violence, and not be depressed when we turn on the television. But we would also have no clue what is happening or has happened and I wouldn't be talking about a hurricane now (hmmm... I might be talking about watermelons now... had a good watermelon latley? I have but that's a different story).

Let's face it, during 9/11 and it's aftermath we were hooked on watching the news like a mouse is hooked on cheese (and its not just t.v., newspapers are equally guilty). They had people standing around talking to us about what has happened and what they think will happen. I seriously think they could have taped themselves and just replayed it over and over and we would not have noticed. Why must we be so obsessed with watching bad things? Why when we turn on the t.v. do we really want to hear about someone being shot to death instead of a church raising money to help the homeless in the city? Do we want to know the answer to that question?

It's almost like they LIKE bad things. Terrorism, violence, anything and everything evil. Is a news station evil if they only tell us about evil things? Do those cooperate executives really NEED that extra money when they have a huge house, a swimming pool, in a rich neighborhood with a country club, that send their children to the best boarding schools and collages and have the best lives money can buy?

With the media we only hear the bad. Without it would we hear at all? What if the government controlled the media? Could a government control the media and succede? Should we even beleve what the media is "telling" us?

There's a very fine line. And lot's of questions that need to be asked. Are they doing this on purpose? To get their ratings higher because they KNOW that we somehow WANT to see something bad everyday? Or is it truley because they "want to keep the public informed about what's happening around them"? There has to be some executive up the line that really doesn't care about people being shot every day, regular terrorism around the world, or anything else, and just wants to make that little extra money. I truely and deeply wish that I never become that man.
